A Little Interlude

oday, it was started. My mega super surrealist epic story. It wasn't easy of course, getting the right balance between fact and fantasy, but my choice of venue and characters will help me with that. At first I couldn't decide where to set it. Nothing I could think of gave the right feeling of horror, suspense, mystery and all the other subtleties that make a good horror story, but leafing through some old papers I had, it suddenly came to me.

PRIORY PRISON

"An old abandoned mental hospital built sometime in the Victorian era for very disturbed and violent patients."

Of course, no such place exists, although there was a Priory Hall in Coventry of all places. Right next to the Cathedral, from what I've heard. It burnt down sometime around '88 or '89 in rather strange circumstances, as far as I remember.

The character names were a little harder. So many names to choose from, so hard to get to get the right feel. At first I was going to have an all male line up, but even though this a bending history a little, I decided to have a token female presence.

"AMANDA" will do I thought. First name I saw when I opened encyclopaedia at the "A"s for female names.

The other names were slightly harder but after a few minutes leafing through the lists I decided on "Hugo" and "Vlad" for a start. They sounded appropriate for vampires, for that's what they are.

Anyway I've written the first chapter. Tomorrow, a new chapter and some more characters.
