gain the innocent were not warned. Things were being done behind their backs again. Well, actually it was all taking place before their very eyes.

Things like this had happened before, of course, like the sprawling genetic development centre covering the centre of town. They did not know what it was when it was built by the evil ones. We did, we were the insiders, party to the secrets of the evil beings living in the grand buildings near the very source of all evil.

Now the genetic development centre did other things as well, screams could sometimes be heard emanating from the ruined halls looming into the skies.

But now they had gone just one step too far, the structure had been built, the cooling tanks built, open to the view of the innocents even, but now they had sneaked the rods into place and were putting the lead shielding onto the main generating towers.

So we tried to tell those poor, innocent people just what was going on around them, but they would not listen, the hold of the evil ones had been completed many years ago.

Our job was to let them know, we knew how the evil ones did these things, so when we spotted them building the plant we knew instantly what was happening. The ruse they used as cover was patently transparent to all but those totally ensnared in the trap of the evil ones.

We tried to warn them subtly at first, hinting vaguely at what was really going on but to no avail. Then we tried talking in public about what they were doing, still we were not heard. Well, one cannot say we did not try.
