WHITECHAPEL KILLINGS

Jack the Ripper strikes again. In the early hours of this morning a Spitalfields market porter, going to work found the mutilated body of a prostitute, identified as Annie 'Dark Annie' Chapman. Forty seven years old Annie Chapman was found in the backyard of 29 Hanbury St. with her throat cut, she had also been disembowelled. Disturbingly her rings and coins were neatly laid in rows by her feet. A blood stained leather apron was also found at the murder site.

This murder bears striking similarities to the murder of Mary Ann Nicholls on August 7th in Whitechapel. In letters, apparently from the murderer, the self styled 'Jack the Ripper' has threatened to kill again. Chief Inspector Swanson has denied that London is on the brink of a murder spree. However police are no closer to arresting anybody for the spate of murders in London's East End.

BRITISH TROOPS ARRIVE IN BURMA

The Light Infantry and the Shropshire's arrive in Burma yesterday to help with the jungle war against the native insurgents. This comes at the same time as Brunei and N.Borneo become British protectorates, so peace in the area is essential for consolidation and further expansion.

Benjamin Harrison (Rep) was elected US president. The 23rd president since the mutiny.

SHERLOCK HOLMES RECOVERS STOLEN CARBUNCLE

The Countess of Morcar whose famous Blue Carbuncle was stolen last week, had it returned last night. Police made a number of arrests.

CHIGWELL CHOKER MURDERS VICAR'S WIFE

In an apparently motiveless attack Mrs Muriel Runcie was strangled and raped last night in her home. Next door her husband, Rev. Albert Runcie was in his church, St. Saviours, holding midnight mass. Mrs Runcie was found by her maid Miss Jane Quick, when she went to answer the bell, which Mrs Runcie could never have rung.

This is the second murder and necrophilical rape in the Chigwell area since 5th September and police are baffled by the attacks, and are seemingly powerless to resist them. PC Oates who gave chase to a shadowy figure early this morning outside the vicarage said that is just disappeared into thin air.

WAR WITH THE OENOTRIAN EMPIRE ?

Tensions are running high with the Martian Tyranny, the Oenotrian Empire. Gunboats and troops have been mobilised along the Syrtis Major border. This comes after the Oenotrian declaration of support for the High Martian King Hattabranx, who was punished last month, after he kidnapped American diplomat James Kilhenny, by British Gunboats. Ha Habranx controls the major liftwood plantations in the area.

RUSSIAN EXPEDITION TO LUNA FAILS TO RETURN

Vladimir Tereshkova, who has made four previous trips, set off on June 10th for the dark side of the moon, with five companions. It was rumoured that he was to investigate the mysterious 'glow' found on the dark side. Tzar Nicholas will hold a ceremony of remembrance for the scientist and explorer at St. Petersburg cathedral on 25th September. Experts believe that the expedition has floundered on the moon as they only had food for two weeks, so no hope is held for them. The Russians are planning no further trips to Luna.

FENIAN RAM DESTROYED AT MEEPSOOR

Captain Burnaby, who saved General Gordon at Khartoum, in his Steam Ram Penelope came across the Fenian Ram attacking a cargo kite ten miles from Meepsoor and engaged it. The Fenians put up little resistance and their boat was destroyed. Liam O'Connor, however escaped the destruction of his ship and is still on the run.

The Fenian Ram has been a thorn in British Military and civil operations on Mars for more than a year and the viceroy personally thanked Captain Burnaby for his bravery.

MISSION FOR FALLEN WOMEN OPENS IN WEST HAM

Mrs Ogda Rumbient opened the mission to cater for the growing numbers of women forced to take to the streets to earn a living. Mrs Rumbient hopes that her regime of bread and water, cold baths and prayer will reform the women and turn then to more worthwhile occupations.

SLAVERY ABOLISHED IN BRAZIL

Brazil, the long hold out against reform, has finally succumbed to international pressure and abolished serfdom.

REVOLT IN ETHIOPIA

An Italian backed revolt against the king of Ethiopia was led by his heir, Merelik Negus of Shewa. The rebels have made large gains in the north and are advancing towards the capital Addis Ababa.

UNETHICAL PRACTISES AT HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY

Dr Franz Wortman was yesterday expelled from Heidelberg University after allegations of unethical medical practises. The investigation which followed resulted in the Doctors sudden expulsion from the university and City of Heidelberg.
